Overview

The Board & Train program is immersive lifestyle training for dogs achieved by shifting their perspectives and changing their behaviors to empower their relationships with their families. This program provides dogs with a significant amount of training in a short period of time. Dogs enrolled in the Board & Train program stay at my home where they are provided with a structured environment with strong leadership, clear expectations, and consistent consequences for good and bad behavior. The duration of the Board & Train program for new clients is a minimum of 2-weeks. The Board & Train program is a great alternative to traditional boarding, as we can focus our attention on individual dogs’ problem behaviors while you are away.

All dogs enrolled in Prudent K9’s Board & Train program are trained using low-level remote collars (eCollars). Working with remote collars at low-levels allows me to establish a clear line of communication between myself and the dogs, but most importantly, it allows me to transfer this line of communication directly to the dogs’ owners to empower their relationship with their dogs.

Curriculum

For the duration of the Board & Train program your dog will receive focused interval training between 7AM and 9PM each day with high intensity, concentrated training blocks. Training blocks include a focus on teaching the commands and skills of the Board & Train program, and addressing your dog’s problem behaviors. The Board & Train program is custom tailored to meet your dog’s individual needs. Below is a breakdown of the commands and skills your dog will learn in the Board & Train program.

• Sit/Stay, Down/Stay, Place, Come, Heel
• Leash Walking - Politely walking in a Heel position
• Thresholds - Waiting for permission to exit crate, doors, gates and to eat meals
• Behavior Modification (as needed)

Methodology

Dogs are taught the curriculum of the Board & Train program using a training plan. The training plan consists of focused training on Fundamentals (i.e., Non-Verbal), Commands (i.e., Verbal), and Troubleshooting (i.e., Behavior modification for problem behaviors).

The focus areas of the training plan are the building blocks in the process of training the dogs. Fundamentals include Leash Pressure, Thresholds, and Recall. Commands include Heel, Sit/Stay, Down/Stay, Place, and Come. Troubleshooting covers any range of problem behaviors that a specific dog needs addressed.

Dogs are engaged in focused training blocks in the morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, and evening; both onsite and offsite as we progress through their training. The training plan allows me to consistently work dogs through the Board & Train program toward the end goal of obedient and well-mannered dogs.

Pricing

Depending on the current state of your dog and your desired training goals, a Board & Train program will range from 1-week to 3-weeks to ensure the specific training goals for your dog are adequately met. The 1-week Board & Train is currently limited to previous clients. Included with the Board & Train program are the Prudent K9 Training Lifestyle Handbook and two 1-on-1 sessions:  a 30-minute Drop-Off session and a 60-minute Go-Home session where I will transfer the knowledge and skills you need for continued success with your dog.

The eCollar is not included and must be purchased separately. My recommendation is the ET-300 Mini Educator 1/2 Mile Remote eCollar which is available for purchase directly from the manufacturer's website at ecollar.com.

The available Board & Train program lengths are briefly described below.

• 2-weeks – $1,800

  The 2-week Board & Train program is the standard option for most dogs with common behavioral issues. The 2-week timeframe allows us to thoroughly work through the commands and skills of the Board & Train curriculum and address dogs' specific problem behaviors.

• 3-weeks – $2,700

  The 3-week Board & Train program is for fearful/anxious dogs that will require additional time to open up before they can engage with the full curriculum of the Board & Train program. This program allows us to work toward our training goals at an appropriate pace.

• 1-week – $900

  The 1-week Board & Train program is an option for previous Board & Train clients with dogs that could benefit from refresher training. This program is designed to provide dogs with a quick and highly focused reboot to get them back on track.

**Financing Available via PayPal Credit

PayPal is now available for payment processing for all Prudent K9 Training services. PayPal provides PayPal Credit which allows you to make interest-free payments over a 6-month period from the date of purchase for Prudent K9 Training services. Eligibility for PayPal Credit is subject to credit approval by PayPal.

Payment in full with debit/credit card for Prudent K9 Training services can be processed using Stripe or PayPal.
